The Biblical teaching of death and resurrection is vital to what actually makes Christianity stand out from the plethora of pagan beliefs and other religious faiths. The scriptures emphatically deny the existence of an afterlife upon the immediacy of death, but rather teaches that "if Christ not be raised, your faith is in vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished." (1 Cor 15:17-18)

Yes, without the resurrection from the DEAD all faith is lost. Yet the Christian Church today blatantly ignores the teachings of its own scriptures, in favor of heathen philosophies and pagan mythologies. Theories such as "the immortal soul," and "the tripartite man" are commonly taught throughout Christendom. NONE of them are scriptural.
